Fall Fashion Trends to Avoid

Updated: May 6, 2023

Fall is the perfect time to experiment with new fashion trends. However, there are some trends that are best avoided. We had a chat with some friends and readers of the magazine about some fall fashion donts they have experienced and learned the hard way. We put a few of them together in this list. Here are five fall fashion trends to avoid:

Oversized Sweaters

The controversy over oversized sweaters continues. Oversized sweaters may be comfortable, and it was a pick by readers for our Hottest Fall Trends, but some say they can also make you look frumpy. The suggested fix for this is to stick to well-fitted sweaters in fall’s rich textures and colors. So you don't have to miss out on your fall sweater after all just make them more well-fitted.

Leopard Print

Leopard print is a timeless trend, but it can be overdone. If you’re going to wear leopard print, keep it to one piece and style it with neutral colors. Yea, don't be that guy... well unless you just really have to be.

Cropped Jeans

Cropped jeans are not flattering on everyone. If you’re petite, they will make your legs look shorter. They may not hit the right spot on your ankle if you're tall. Stick to full-length jeans in a dark wash.

Neon Colors

Neon colors are best left for the summer. In fall, you might want to try sticking to rich jewel tones. This also works with the mood of the season, which brings to mind, pumpkin spice lattes, and fireside chats.

Uggs

Uggs are comfortable, but they’re not quite stylish. There are so many other cute and stylish boots to choose from. Shoe shopping for the season can be fun, especially if you find a pair that fits your style and is comfortable enough to walk in.

Conclusion

We always advocate for comfort here, so the most important thing is to wear what makes you comfortable. But do you agree with these fall fashion trends to avoid? Or are there some that you think deserve to be given another chance? Let us know what you think in the comments. We love to hear from you.
